If you would like to have an aviation security screener certified, you can apply for this at your aviation security authority.

• Airport operators may only deploy persons as aviation security screeners who have a certificate for the activity they are to perform.
• If you would like to certify aviation security screeners in the aviation security sector, you can apply online to your competent aviation security authority.
• The activity-specific training of persons responsible for the screening of persons and items carried comprises the competencies defined in the modular training system.
• After successfully completing the training, the responsible aviation security authority will conduct a written and practical examination.
• The training participants are then issued with a certification certificate by the competent aviation security authority confirming that they have successfully passed the examination.
• You will receive a copy of the certification certificates from the aviation security authority.

• You have passed a background check at the time of starting the training.
• You are physically and mentally fit to work as an aviation security screener.

• As an airport operator or security service provider, you can apply for the certification of aviation security screeners in writing or online to the aviation security authority responsible for you.
  
• If you wish to apply for certification in writing:
  • Aerodrome operators or security service providers report the need for aviation security screener training to the relevant aviation security authority and submit a list of participants at the same time. In addition, the existence of a valid background check in accordance with the Aviation Security Act must be confirmed before the start of training.
  • The aviation security authority receives the information about the training and checks the list of participants and the associated background checks.
  • The security service provider carries out the training and submits a corresponding training certificate to the responsible aviation security authority.
  • The security service provider shall apply to the competent aviation security authority via the airport operator for the examination acceptance of the training graduates.
  • The security service provider shall send the list of candidates by name together with the training certificates to the competent aviation security authority no later than seven working days before the examination date.
  • The aviation security authority forms an examination board and conducts the written and practical examination at the training participants' premises.
  • The practical examination should be completed within two weeks of the theoretical part of the examination.
  • One practical part of the examination consists of the evaluation of X-ray images, another practical part consists of the examination of control procedures for the inspection of persons, vehicles and goods.
  • After successful completion of the examination, the certification certificates are issued and handed over The airport operator receives a copy of the certification certificates.
  • A fee notice is issued and sent to the airport operator.
