Do you transport passengers commercially with your cab business and would like to increase the number of your vehicles? Then you need to apply for an extension to your existing permit.

You require a permit for the commercial transportation of passengers by cab.

If you wish to increase the number of vehicles for your cab business, you must apply to the relevant transport authority for an extension of the permit.

• Valid permit
• Application for extension of the cab permit contains
  • Surname and first name as well as place of residence and registered office of the applicant
  • for natural persons: Date of birth, place of birth, number of vehicles, vehicle type, capacity of the vehicles to be used
• Certificate of equity and, if applicable, additional certificate (form of the Professional Access Ordinance for Road Passenger Transport PBZugV), not older than 12 months
• Certificate in tax matters from the tax office, the municipality, the social insurance institution and the employers' liability insurance association
  • relates to the company, the legal representative and the person appointed to manage the business or the transport manager
  • not older than 3 months
• Certificate of good conduct of the person appointed to manage the business for submission to the authorities
• Certificate proving the professional suitability of the person appointed to manage the business
• for companies: Extract from the central trade register, if not already available to the authority
• Extract from the driving aptitude register (FAER)

General documents

• Vehicle list, if applicable rental vehicles with rental contract or leasing list
• Proof of liability insurance for cabs including risk index (WKZ)
• Proof of installation of an alarm system or exemption permit
• Proof of installation of a fare indicator (taximeter) and, if applicable, the last calibration report
• Business registration, if not already available to the authorities
• for partnerships: the list of partners, the partnership agreement or other proof of contractual authorization, if not already available to the authorities
• certified extract from the commercial register or extract from the register of cooperatives
  • for limited liability companies: list of shareholders, not older than 3 months
• articles of association
• Documents proving the employment relationship of the person appointed to manage the business

• You already have a cab permit.
• The safety and efficiency of your business are guaranteed.
• There is no evidence of unreliability against you as an entrepreneur or against the persons in management.
• You are professionally qualified as an entrepreneur or as a member of the management.
• Your registered office or place of business within the meaning of commercial law is in Germany.

Legal entities under public law are deemed to meet the requirements.

Existing entrepreneurs will be given appropriate consideration over new applicants. Within the permit quotas, consideration is given according to the chronological order in which applications are submitted.

Irrespective of the order of application, priority is given to

• who do not intend to operate the cab business as their main occupation,
• who have not operated the cab business as their main occupation or who have sold or leased it in whole or in part within the last 8 years,
• who has not properly fulfilled the operating obligation.

The amount of the fees depends on

• the number of vehicles and
• the term of the permit.

Proceed as follows to obtain an extension of the permit for the commercial transportation of passengers with several cabs:

• Submit a corresponding application to the transport authority responsible for you and enclose all the necessary documents with the application.
• The authority will process your application and carry out the necessary hearing procedures.
• You will receive a decision on the extension of the cab permit.

If applicable, you will receive the permit certificate or, if you wish to extend several permits, several permit certificates.

There is no deadline.
