The requirements of Regulation (EC) No. 1/2005 (EU Animal Welfare Transport Regulation) on the protection of animals during transport apply to the transportation of animals. According to Article 10 of the regulation, companies that transport animals over a distance of more than 65 kilometers must be licensed. In addition, all persons involved in the transportation of animals in these establishments must be in possession of a certificate of competence issued by the authorities. These requirements may also apply to the transportation of animals as part of an agricultural or part-time activity ("part-time farmers"). If there are any changes to your license (e.g. change of care staff, changes to the vehicle fleet), you must notify the competent authority.

Existence of a license as a transport company for animal transport

Is based on the respective administrative fee schedule of the federal state or on the fee statutes of the authorities responsible under federal state law.

Changes to the approval of transport companies must be reported.

• You must notify the competent authority of any changes to your approval as a transport company.
• The authority checks the notified changes and, if necessary, issues a new authorization.

If all documents are complete, the responsible office will process the application promptly.

The changes must be displayed before they are implemented.
