A mortuary passport is required for the transfer of a corpse abroad.
A mortuary passport is also required for the transfer of a corpse from Hesse to other federal states if their legislation requires a mortuary passport for the transport or burial of the body.
- Death certificate or certificate of deferral of certification
- Morgue certificate
- Certificate of proper coffin by the undertaker
- Certificate from the undertaker that the transport is carried out by a vehicle intended for the transport of corpses.
- if applicable, written power of attorney for the commissioned undertaker
- in the case of indications of a non-natural death or the body of an unknown person:
Authorisation from the public prosecutor's office or the district court - medical certificate from the health authority, according to which there are no objections to the transport of the corpse, if the deceased suffered from a notifiable disease according to the Infection Protection Act
The mortuary passport must be requested by the relative responsible for the funeral or by the undertaker responsible for the transport.
