As a pet owner, you can receive a subsidy from the Hessische Tierseuchenkasse. The aid is intended to reduce losses caused by animal diseases.
The cases in which the Tierseuchenkasse grants aid are laid down in the statutes governing benefits. In particular, you can receive aid for:
- Damage caused by animal loss for which you will not receive compensation
- other damage after official measures
You will only receive the allowance for animals for which you have to pay contributions to the Tierseuchenkasse. The following are liable to pay contributions:
- Horses
- Cattle
- Pigs
- Sheep
- Beehives
- Poultry
The amount of the individual subsidies can be found in the performance overview of the Hessische Tierseuchenkasse.
Hint: You will not receive any aid if you already receive compensation for animal losses under the Animal Diseases Act.
- Application for aid
- Detection of the disease (disease)
- Documentation of animal loss
- Proof of harm reduction
As the owner of the animals, you must:
- have indicated the correct number of animals when you report to the Tierseuchenkasse,
- have paid the contributions to the Tierseuchenkasse on time,
- have consulted a veterinarian in good time and informed the veterinary office of the outbreak of a disease/disease,
- have the disease confirmed by a veterinarian (for example, by means of an expert opinion or an examination result),
- have documented the losses (e.g. through slaughter certificates) and
- You must not have clearly neglected your duty of care.
You must immediately inform the competent veterinary office and a veterinarian if you suspect an epidemic.
After you have obtained all the necessary evidence, you can submit the completed application form of the Tierseuchenkasse to the veterinary office.
The veterinary office will process your application and forward it to the Tierseuchenkasse.
You must submit the complete application to the competent body no later than 6 months after the damage has occurred.
