If you are licensed as a panel dentist, you can bill for the treatment of patients with statutory health insurance via the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Dentists in Hesse.
Admission as a panel dentist is the standard form of participation in panel dental care. It requires the activity in one's own practice. It can also be practiced in a joint practice/group practice or in a medical care centre (MVZ). In this case, the MVZ itself needs approval.
As a panel dentist, you become a member of your regional Association of Statutory Health Insurance Dentists (KZV) Hessen. You use this to bill all contractual dental services of the statutory health insurance patients.
As a panel dentist, you must hold your consultation hours at the panel dentist's office.
Contractual dental activities outside the authorised panel doctor's seat are in principle inadmissible, unless the law grants the possibility by authorisation.
If you would like to relocate your registered office or open a branch practice, you must submit an application to the admission committee of the KZV Hessen. This also applies to the employment of an employed dentist.
If you would like to join forces with other dentists to form a joint practice or set up a medical care centre, you must also submit an application to the admission committee of the KZV Hessen.
You can appeal against the decision of the Admissions Committee.

- Day of approbation
- Date of entry in the dental register
- the date of recognition of the right to use a particular title of specialty, if this has taken place
- Personally signed CV
- Certificate of good conduct for submission to an authority (document type O)
- If applicable, a statement that the service mandate should be limited to half, if you intend to do so
- If applicable, certificates from the KZV Hessen in whose area you were previously admitted as a panel dentist (stating the place and duration of the establishment or admission and the reason for any termination)
- Declaration of service or employment relationships existing at the time of application (indicating the earliest possible end of the employment relationship)
- Statement as to whether you
- are addicted to drugs, or
- have been addicted to drugs within the last five years, or
- have undergone rehab for drug or alcohol addiction within the last five years, and
- that there are no legal obstacles to the practice of the dental profession
- Certificate of insurance attesting to the existence of adequate professional indemnity insurance
- When applying for admission to a professional association (BAG) or a medical care centre (MVZ), further documents are required; these are specified in the corresponding application
You must provide the required documents in the original or as a certified copy . The applications are available on the website of the KZV Hessen.
You will receive admission if you
- are entered in the dental register (possible after approbation and completion of the two-year preparation period),
- are not prevented by any employment relationships or other non-voluntary activities from providing the necessary care for insured persons,
- only carry out dental activities that are compatible with the activities of panel dentists, and
- have no health or other serious personal deficiencies (in particular, you must not have been addicted to drugs or alcohol in the five years prior to the application).
Note: Even if there are impediments within the meaning of the second or third indent, you may be admitted as a panel dentist on condition that the impediment has been removed no later than three months after the admission has become final. Activities in approved hospitals, preventive care or rehabilitation establishments are compatible with a panel dentist's activity.
- Application fee (due upon application): EUR 100.00
- Administrative fee (due after granted admission): EUR 400.00
You must apply for admission in writing to the Admissions Committee. The admission committee is located at the KZV Hessen and meets every three months. To do this, you must submit the required documents to the KZV Hessen and pay the application fee.
If you are not yet registered in the Dental Register, first complete the application for registration in the Dental Register and enclose the documents required by the application for registration in the Dental Register in certified form.
The application must contain, among other things, for which practice location and, if applicable, for which subject area you are applying for admission. Attach the required documents and transfer the application fee. A copy of the proof of payment must be attached to the application. After approval has been granted, an administrative fee is still due.
The admission committee of the KZV Hessen decides on the application. The decision states by when you must start your activity. The date can be postponed on request if there are important reasons.
The decision will be sent to you.
