If you decide on a course within the vocational school, you have three different options with three objectives:

Course B 1

Goal:

Vocational knowledge, skills and abilities as well as a qualification equivalent to the Hauptschulabschluss after year 10

Educational program B 2

Goal:

Vocational knowledge, skills and abilities as well as an intermediate school leaving certificate (Fachoberschulreife), possibly with entitlement to attend upper secondary school

Educational program B 3

Goal:

Vocational qualification in accordance with state law as well as a qualification equivalent to the Hauptschulabschluss after year 10 or an intermediate school-leaving certificate (Fachoberschulreife), possibly with the right to attend the gymnasiale Oberstufe

Educational program B 1

If you decide to attend the B 1 course, you are pursuing the goal of acquiring vocational knowledge, skills and abilities as well as a qualification equivalent to the Hauptschulabschluss after year 10.

Lessons:

The course lasts one year. Lessons are taught full-time with 32 to 35 lessons per week. Internships lasting 15 days are integrated into the courses.

Graduation:

If you successfully complete the course, you will receive a qualification equivalent to a secondary school leaving certificate after year 10.

Follow-up options:

You have the option of attending a one-year full-time school-based course of education that teaches vocational knowledge, skills, abilities and the intermediate school leaving certificate (Fachoberschulreife, possibly with the entitlement to attend the upper secondary school) (course B 2).

Alternatively, you can start dual vocational training, possibly with the option of entering the second year of training.

An alternative to dual vocational training is full-time school-based vocational training that leads to a vocational qualification in accordance with state law (e.g. state-certified childcare worker) and an intermediate school-leaving certificate (entrance qualification for specialized secondary schools) (course B 3).

Educational program B 2

If you decide to attend course B 2, you are pursuing the goal of acquiring vocational knowledge, skills and abilities as well as the intermediate school leaving certificate (Fachoberschulreife), possibly with the right to attend the upper secondary school.

Lessons:

The course lasts one year. Lessons are taught full-time with 32 to 35 lessons per week. Internships lasting 15 days are integrated into the courses.

Graduation:

If you successfully complete the course, you will receive an intermediate school leaving certificate (Fachoberschulreife), which can be combined with the qualification to attend the upper secondary school.

Follow-up options:

You can start a dual vocational training course, possibly with the option of entering the second year of training.

Alternatively, you could enter the second year of the three-year courses leading to a vocational qualification in accordance with state law (e.g. as a commercial or technical assistant) and the entrance qualification for universities of applied sciences.

Course B 3

If you decide to attend the B 3 course, you are pursuing the goal of obtaining a vocational qualification in accordance with state law and a qualification equivalent to the Hauptschulabschluss after year 10 or the intermediate school leaving certificate (Fachoberschulreife), possibly with the right to attend the gymnasiale Oberstufe.

Teaching

The course lasts two years. Lessons are taught full-time with 32 to 35 lessons per week. Work placements lasting 16 weeks are integrated into the courses.

Qualifications:

If you successfully complete the course, you will receive a vocational qualification as a

• State-certified childcare assistant
• State-certified social assistant
• State-certified social assistant, specializing in curative education
• State-certified assistant for nutrition and care, specializing in service

You can also obtain a secondary school leaving certificate equivalent to the Hauptschulabschluss after year 10 or an intermediate school leaving certificate (Fachoberschulreife), with the entitlement to attend the gymnasiale Oberstufe if you perform accordingly.

Follow-up options:

If you have completed this course, you can immediately enter the second year of the three-year vocational school in the relevant subject area or occupational field. There you can acquire a vocational qualification in accordance with state law and the entrance qualification for universities of applied sciences.

The school management decides on admission to a vocational school.

This is a matter for the school authorities, if necessary:

• a copy of the last school report
• possibly passport photos
• possibly further documents depending on the school.

For admission to the B 1 course, you must have a Hauptschulabschluss (after grade 9) or an equivalent qualification.

For admission to the B 2 course, you must have a secondary general school certificate after grade 10 or an equivalent qualification.

For admission to the B 3 course, you must have at least a lower secondary school leaving certificate (grade 9) or an equivalent qualification.

• Pupils can register for vocational school via the Schüler Online internet portal(www.schueleranmeldung.de).
• The respective vocational college decides on the application and informs the parties involved of the decision via the internet portal and in writing.

Vocational school admission

• Registration for vocational school
• Acquisition of initial vocational experience or a vocational qualification in accordance with state law as well as a qualification equivalent to the Hauptschulabschluss after grade 10 or the intermediate school leaving certificate (Fachoberschulreife), possibly with authorization to attend the gymnasiale Oberstufe (upper secondary school)
• The school management decides on admission.
