If you want to run a business whose activity consists of placing hatching eggs in incubators, incubating these eggs and supplying chicks, you must apply to the competent authority for registration.
- Completed application form
- The responsible office will request further documents if required.
- Hatcheries with a capacity of 1,000 hatching eggs or more
- Breeding and multiplication farms with 100 animals or more
Apply to the competent authority for registration of your hatchery using the prescribed form.
- The competent authority will check your application and you will receive a written notification of the result.
- Upon registration, your business will be assigned an identification number.

The competent authority is the higher animal welfare authority for livestock farming.

Hatcheries must be registered by the state livestock authority.
Activities subject to registration are in particular
- the placing of hatching eggs in incubators,
- the incubation of these eggs and
- the supply of chicks.
Upon registration, the hatchery is assigned an identification number.
