The procedures and assessment criteria for recognition are also defined in the examination regulations of the respective university.
If you would like to start or continue your studies at a (different) university, you can have your previous academic achievements recognized. This is also possible for non-academic achievements (e.g. achieved as part of vocational training).
To do this, you must submit an application for recognition to the university at which you wish to begin or continue your studies. However, the university will only recognize your achievements if the skills you have acquired do not differ significantly from those you intend to acquire in your future studies. In the case of recognition of non-university achievements, the knowledge and qualifications acquired must be equivalent in terms of content and level to the examinations they are intended to replace.
Special regulations apply if you wish to have academic achievements and periods of study recognized for the study of human medicine, dentistry and pharmacy. If you would like to find out more about recognition in one of these degree programs, please select the relevant administrative service.
