You are eligible to vote if you have reached the age of eighteen on election day and have lived in the district for at least three months, or your main residence if you have more than one residence, or if you are otherwise ordinarily resident and do not live outside the district.
You are not eligible to vote if you are not eligible to vote or to hold public office in the Federal Republic of Germany on election day as a result of a court ruling.
If you are convicted of a crime and sentenced to at least one year's imprisonment, you will lose the ability to hold public office and obtain rights from public elections for a period of five years.
In addition, certain activities or functions that you may perform as a civil servant or employee for a relevant body are incompatible with holding a district council mandate.
You are eligible to vote if
- you are entitled to vote,
- have reached the age of 18,
- you have had your home in the district for at least three months, or your main residence if you have more than one home, or you are otherwise ordinarily resident in the district and do not have a home outside the district
- you are not disqualified from voting on election day as a result of a court ruling in the Federal Republic of Germany and are qualified to hold public office.
Your eligibility is determined as follows:
- Your eligibility is recorded in the official register of residents.
- If this is not the case and you believe that you are still eligible, please contact your local authority.
