Anyone who carries out road haulage or passenger transport journeys for commercial purposes on public roads is obliged to undergo initial qualification and further training.

If you, as the provider of a training centre, wish to offer courses for accelerated initial qualification or further training, your company must be a recognised training centre. There are two different types of recognition: statutory or regulatory.

The following educational institutions are legally recognised and therefore do not have to apply for further recognition:

• Driving schools with a driving school license of classes CE (truck) or DE (bus)
• Training companies that carry out vocational training in the training occupations "professional driver" or "specialist for driving" and are recognized for this by the Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK)
• Carrier of a retraining as a "professional driver" or "specialist in driving operation" with recognition of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce

However, if your educational institution does not belong to any of the above groups, you will need official recognition.

The following requirements apply:

• Professional competence of the institution
• Employment of a sufficient number of qualified trainers (as a general rule, one trainer should not teach more than 36 persons)
• Proof of suitable premises and teaching materials for both practical and theoretical training
• where applicable, proof of the personal good repute of the institution

• Training concept including curriculum and documents for trainers
• all teaching materials used for training
• Proof of qualifications of instructors (e.g. copy of driving instructor licence)
• List of all training rooms with addresses, size (plan with square meters required) and a short description
• List of how often the courses will take place, how many people will attend and how many instructors will be used for them
• Proof of which vehicles are to be used for practical training

You must submit a written application, where you will need a single recognition for each venue.

The charges are levied on the basis of the Regulation on measures in road transport.

There are no deadlines to be observed.
