Bildungsabschlüsse aus der DDR im Hochschulbereich anerkennen lassen

Graduates who have a degree from a higher education, technical or engineering college or a church educational institution of the former GDR, which was or is located in the territory of today's state of Saxony-Anhalt, can apply for the determination of the equivalence of the educational qualification within the meaning of Art. 37 para. 1 of the Unification Treaty and, if applicable, the post-graduation based on the determination.

Depending on the degree obtained, the following documents must be enclosed with the informal application:

1. university degree with diploma or without diploma and doctorate

• Application form for the determination of the equivalence of educational qualifications from the former GDR in the higher education sector within the meaning of Art. 37 para. 1 of the Unification Treaty,
• officially certified copy of the degree certificate with grades and certificate, doctoral certificate,
• Copy of marriage certificate in case of change of name,
• Signed declaration of information on the General Data Protection Regulation

2. university degree without diploma (post-graduation)

• Application form for the determination of the equivalence of educational qualifications from the former GDR in the field of higher education within the meaning of Art. 37 para. 1 of the Unification Treaty,
• Officially certified copy of the degree certificate with grades and certificate,
• Copy of marriage certificate in case of change of name
• Signed declaration of information on the General Data Protection Regulation

3. technical and engineering degree (postgraduate diploma)

• Application form for the determination of the equivalence of educational qualifications from the former GDR in the field of higher education within the meaning of Art. 37 para. 1 of the Unification Treaty,
• Officially certified copy of the technical or engineering school certificate with grades and certificate,
• Copy of the marriage certificate in the event of a change of name,
• a tabular professional career after graduation,
• officially certified copy of three years of relevant professional activity, i.e. proof of professional activity in the field of study at the level of the technical or engineering school graduate by means of an excerpt from the social security book incl. page with personal data or qualified job reference; in the case of self-employment by the tax consultant, an original letter with statements on the trade practiced, period, activities of the technical school graduate. Child-raising periods do not count as relevant professional activity.

4. in the case of other qualifications, such as a qualified teacher without a teaching license, engineer or economist, fire protection engineer, specialist engineer, etc., please contact the relevant office.

No application deadlines have to be observed.

Graduates who have a degree from a university, technical or engineering college or a church educational institution in the former GDR that was or is located in the territory of the present-day state of Saxony-Anhalt can - provided that the university degree was obtained by the end of 1993 and the technical and engineering college degree was obtained by the end of 1990 - apply for a determination of the equivalence of the educational qualification within the meaning of Art. 37 Para. 1 of the Unification Treaty and, if applicable, for post-graduation based on the determination.
