Children are generally enrolled in school when they celebrate their 6th birthday in the period from 01.07. of the previous year to 30.06. of the year of school enrolment. In justified individual cases, compulsory schooling may be postponed once by one year.

• If applicable, further documents such as a medical certificate from the district office or the city administration on school readiness

• Your child has reached the age of 6 by 30 June of the following school year and is required to attend school
• Your child is not sufficiently developed physically, mentally, emotionally or in his social behavior to attend classes with any prospect of success.

You can submit an application for postponement of compulsory schooling via primary school to the State Education Office.

• The request must be substantiated (with appropriate documentation).
• The primary school will then hold a consultation with you about the funding opportunities.
• It comments on the application and sends this statement to the Landesschulamt together with the minutes of the consultation.
• After evaluating the possible support for achieving the prerequisites for a successful start to learning, the State Education Office decides on the postponement.
• You will receive a notification with the decision of the State Education Office.

The primary school is informed by the State Education Office.

It is advisable to submit the application when registering for school.
