Compensation for disadvantages is intended to create equal opportunities for all students. This compensates for disadvantages you have due to a disability or illness.

You can apply for compensation for disadvantages in the following areas of study:

• the implementation (e.g. for lectures)
• Examinations and certificates of achievement

The compensation for disadvantages will be agreed individually between you and the university.

• Proof of impairment

You have a disability or suffer from a chronic illness that disadvantages you during your studies

You can apply for compensation for disadvantages at any time at your university. In most cases, the Examination Board is responsible.

Since the compensation for disadvantages is agreed individually, you should have an interview with the university before submitting the application. In this interview, you will explain in which areas you are impaired and in what form disadvantage compensation should be made.

You should also make sure to submit the application before an examination. Your application cannot be approved retroactively. This also means that you cannot contest an examination if you only submit the application afterwards.

The compensation of disadvantages ensures equal opportunities between the students. Students with long-term impairments can apply for disadvantage compensation.
