In the event of a current threat to public safety from dogs, either the police (110) or the integrated regional control centers (112) must be informed immediately. Otherwise, the responsible regulatory authority must be informed.
If a dog is currently endangering public safety, in particular people, other animals or traffic safety, you should immediately inform either the police by calling 110 or the integrated regional control centers by calling 112.
If necessary, these services will inform the relevant authorities or remove the danger themselves.
In the event of a dog bite/incident, a distinction must be made as follows:
- The dog itself was attacked.
- A person or animal has been bitten by a dog.
- A person has been jumped on in a dangerous manner.
- A dog has chased, torn or hunted other animals in an uncontrolled manner.
In all cases, you must report the dog bite, attack or incident to the relevant public order office or the police.
The competent authority will examine the dog in question. Witnesses will also be heard in order to take the necessary measures to protect people and animals from danger.
If possible:
- Describe the course of events.
- Name the time and place of the incident.
- Describe or name the dog.
- Name any witnesses.
- If available, enclose photos of the incident and the injuries (people must not be photographed).
- Provide any medical certificates and/or expert opinions,
