The Saxon contaminated sites register contains information on contaminated sites or areas suspected of being contaminated.

Sites suspected of being contaminated can be former rubbish dumps (Altablagerungen), land formerly used for industrial or commercial purposes (Altstandorte), where environmentally hazardous substances have been handled, as well as all sites where pollutants in soils are to be expected.

In addition to the hazards emanating from the property, its value decreases if it is found to be contaminated with pollutants.

The competent authority can provide you with information on such suspected sites and grant you access to the cadastre if you have a justified interest. The competent authority will help you with:

• assessing areas with regard to the risk to soil, plants, humans and groundwater
• Construction projects on suspected contaminated sites
• Investigation and remediation measures

Information will be provided within one month.
