Application for a grant in accordance with Part 2, Letter A, Item I. of the Guidelines for the Promotion of Social Cohesion (FRL GeZus)
The Free State of Saxony promotes civic engagement as part of the "We for Saxony" programme. Volunteers can apply to the programme to receive a flat-rate monthly expense allowance. This partially covers material expenses that are necessary for the respective voluntary work (such as travel costs and office expenses).
The process is exclusively digital.
Which areas are eligible for funding?
Funding can be provided for voluntary work in projects, for example in the following areas:
- Commitment to children and young people,
- Commitment to people with disabilities and older people,
- Integration of people with a migration background,
- Help for people in emergency situations,
- Commitment to democracy and society,
- Environmental, climate and nature conservation,
- Culture, socioculture,
- Education,
- Preservation of local history and customs,
- Fire and disaster prevention and rescue services.
- Health promotion,
- Sport,
- Road safety and mobility,
On what principles is civic engagement based?
Civic engagement is
- voluntary,
- not aimed at material gain,
- orientated towards the common good,
- public or located in the public sphere and
- is usually carried out collectively / cooperatively.
Who supervises the allocation of funding?
Sponsors of volunteer projects (project organisers) receive funding centrally via the Dresden Community Foundation. A regional advisory board provides basic suggestions for the implementation of the programme within the framework of the available financial resources. In addition, regional advisory boards can advise the Bürgerstiftung Dresden on decisions.

Type of funding
- Grant within the framework of project funding as fixed-amount financing
Amount
- flat-rate monthly expense allowance per person of EUR 35.00 up to EUR 45.00;
- the specific amount for the respective funding year is determined taking into account the funds available and the application volume.

The following are eligible to apply
Organisers of volunteer projects (project sponsors):
- the umbrella organisations of non-statutory welfare, local non-statutory welfare organisations and parishes,
- Clubs, associations, foundations and other legal entities, provided they are recognised as non-profit organisations,
- Municipalities and municipal associations.
The project organisers use the grant to reimburse the expenses of the volunteers working on their projects.
Requirements for voluntary project organisers
A grant can only be awarded if
- the civic commitment of the individual volunteer amounts to an average of at least 20 hours per month,
- the volunteers concerned have their place of residence or habitual abode in the Free State of Saxony,
- the volunteers in question are not employed full-time by the project organiser in the same field of activity and
- these volunteers are not already receiving funding for the same purpose or for the same voluntary activity and the same period of time from another funding programme of the Free State of Saxony or from third parties. It is permissible to increase the lump sum from own or third-party funds up to a total of 70 euros per month.
Excluded from funding:
The exclusion criteria can be found in the information sheet "We for Saxony - exclusion criteria" (see -> Forms and other offers)
- The project sponsors submit their application exclusively online via the funding portal of the "Wir für Sachsen" programme (see -> Further information).
- Applications are processed by the Dresden Community Foundation.
- The project organiser and the Dresden Community Foundation conclude a grant agreement. This is made available in the funding portal of the "Wir für Sachsen" programme .
- The project sponsors apply for the grant via the funding portal of the "Wir für Sachsen" programme .
- Within 2 months of the end of the approval period, the project sponsor submits a simple proof of use with a factual report and proof that the approved funds have been made available to the volunteers via the funding portal of the "Wir für Sachsen" programme .
