When moving breeding and production animals within the European Union and when entering third countries, the presentation of a health certificate is required, which must be issued before the start of the transport.

For the import of animals, the legislation of the European Union applies. For export, certificates agreed with the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture or provided by third countries must be used. For this reason, please enquire about the provisions that apply to your individual request via the Single Point of Contact (only for commercial requests) or directly at the locally competent Food Control and Veterinary Office.

Single point of contact (Einheitlicher Ansprechpartner)

For this procedure, you can make use of the service of the point of single contact. He or she will guide you through the procedure, take care of the correspondence with all the offices responsible for your concern and will be at your side as a competent advisor.

For the application you need

• an application for a health certificate formulated by you in writing, as well as
• the form of a health certificate for countries for which there are no coordinated certificates.

• EUR 25.00 to EUR 140.00

Note: The costs increase if you have your animal examined on site.

• Contact the point of single contact (only for commercial requests) or the competent food control and veterinary office.
• Provide detailed information on the planned transport (destination country, destination, purpose, etc.).
• The authority will research the health requirements of the destination country and check your submitted documents.
• Only then will the animal be examined.
• If your animal meets the required conditions, the health certificate will be issued to you.
