If you want to establish yourself as a lawyer in Germany as a national of a member state of the World Trade Organisation (WTO), you must be admitted by the local bar association. To do so, you should practise a profession that is comparable to the German profession of lawyer.

Note: You must enclose with your application for admission a certificate from the competent authority in your country of origin confirming that you belong to the profession. This certificate must be submitted to the Bar every year. If you fail to comply with this obligation, your admission to the Bar will be revoked.

When using your professional title, you must state your country of origin in German. After admission, you may practise in the law of your country of origin or in the field of international law.

For this procedure, you can use the services of the Single Point of Contact. He or she will accompany you through the procedure, take care of the correspondence with all the offices responsible for your matter, and will be at your side as a competent advisor.

You can submit the application

• submit the application in writing using the application form of the Saxony Bar Association
• or use the online service of Amt24.

Submit the completed application with all required documents to the Bar Association.

Online application

Set up a service account in Amt24 for identification and authentication and use it to log in to the service portal. Have the required documents ready.

• Follow the link to the online application and fill in the data fields according to the instructions. You can save the information at any time and complete it later.
• Once all data fields have been filled in and the listed documents have been compiled, complete the application and the data will be sent to the competent office.
• You will find the application confirmation in the inbox of your service account. You will receive a notification of incoming messages at your personal e-mail address.

Application processing

• The Bar examines the admission requirements.
• If the admission requirements are met, you will be admitted to the Bar and will receive a certificate of admission.
• You will receive your own special lawyer's mailbox (beA).

Note: You must use the professional title of your home country and your country of origin in German.
