Abschlüsse von Fachschulen sowie von kirchlichen und sonstigen öffentlichen Einrichtungen der DDR, Anerkennung beantragen

School and vocational qualifications or certificates of competence acquired or recognised by the state in the GDR continue to be valid in the Free State of Saxony. On application, the Land Office for Schools and Education (Landesamt für Schule und Bildung), as the school supervisory authority, issues a certificate for the following qualifications stating that the respective qualification is equivalent to a corresponding Federal German qualification:

• Technical assistants
• Engineering educators / economist educators / medical educators
• ecclesiastical and other public training qualifications

The following documents must be enclosed with the application for a certificate:

• officially certified copies or transcripts of the complete school leaving certificate which is to be subjected to the equivalence assessment
• certified copy of the school leaving certificate of the general education school
• in the case of a change of name, proof of this (e.g. marriage certificate)
• a complete curriculum vitae in table form, signed by the applicant's own hand, with details of school education and vocational training
• if applicable, proof of professional activity until admission to the educational institution whose degree is to be subjected to the equivalence assessment
