In some cases, adverse health effects occur after a vaccination as a vaccination reaction of the body, such as swelling at the injection site or a slight fever. However, if the reactions go beyond the usual extent, a doctor (preferably the vaccinating doctor) should be consulted immediately and the public health department informed. Serious health problems following a vaccination are very rare events.

Please use the forms in the " Empfehlungen der Sächsischen Impfkommision beim Auftreten von atypischen Impfverläufen" (Report on suspected cases and supplementary form).
Temporary local and general reactions of the body to a vaccination go beyond the normal extent.
The body's reactions to vaccination vary. Some examples of a normal reaction are
- Redness, swelling or soreness at the injection site for a period of one to three days (occasionally longer)
- Fever below 39.5 °C (when measured rectally), headache and aching limbs, fatigue, malaise, nausea, restlessness, swelling of the regional lymph nodes
- "Vaccination sickness" (one to three weeks after vaccination), for example measles or varicella-like skin symptoms.
- If you experience any adverse health effects in connection with a vaccination that go beyond those listed above, you should consult a doctor, preferably the vaccinating doctor.
- If there is a suspicion of vaccination side effects, this must be reported immediately (within 24 hours) to the responsible health authority. The reporting form developed by the Paul Ehrlich Institute and the " Ergänzungsbogen zur Meldung eines Verdachtes auf Impfkomplikation" (supplementary form for reporting suspected vaccination complications) of the Saxon Vaccination Commission should be used for this purpose.
- If the suspicion is confirmed, you can apply to the Kommunaler Sozialverband Sachsen for care in the event of vaccination damage.
