If you notice that a street drain (gully) is blocked and rainwater is backing up there, or if you notice that the wastewater from your flat or house is no longer draining, it is best to report this to your local Störungsstelle immediately. For all other faults, such as damaged or missing drain covers, the local sewage company's Störungsstelle is also the right point of contact.

Note: Missing manhole covers pose an acute danger. In such and similar cases where there is an immediate danger and you are unable to reach the responsible centre for various reasons, it is advisable to inform the police.

Note: If the blockage affects the sewer system within a connected property or if the blockage was caused by improper use of the wastewater connection, the owner or person responsible must generally pay for the removal of the blockage.

• You notify the competent authority of the sewer junction and the exact location of the junction.
• If no private property owner is responsible for the faulty area, the competent authority shall rectify the fault.
