The creative participation of children in theatre performances, musical performances, film, radio and photo recordings or advertising events and rehearsals is only possible to a limited extent. The Landesdirektion Sachsen, Abteilung Arbeitsschutz can grant exceptions to the participation of children at events upon request.
Application for the granting of an exemption for the participation of children at events in accordance with Section 6 of the Jugendarbeitsschutzgesetz (JArbSchG)
The creative participation of children in theatre performances, musical performances, film, radio and photo recordings or advertising events and rehearsals is only possible to a limited extent. The Landesdirektion Sachsen, Abteilung Arbeitsschutz can grant exceptions to the participation of children at events upon request.
How long children are allowed to participate in an event or rehearsal depends on their age:
Theatre performances:
- Children over 6 years of age up to 4 hours a day from 10:00 to 23:00
Musical performances, promotional events, sound and image recordings:
- Children over 3 to 6 years of age up to 2 hours a day between 08:00 and 17:00
- Children over 6 years of age up to 3 hours a day from 08:00 to 22:00
Prohibited Without Exception
is the participation of children
- in cabarets, dance halls and similar establishments
- at amusement parks, funfairs, fairs and the like
- Shows or performances
- Written consent of the legal guardian
- Medical certificate (not older than 3 months)
- Ensuring precautions and measures are taken to protect the child's health
- Care and supervision of the child during employment
- free time of at least 14 hours without interruption following employment
- No impairment of progress at school
As the organiser, you apply for an exemption from the employment ban in writing using the form provided.
- You can obtain the required form online here via Amt24 or directly from the occupational health and safety portal.
- Submit the completed form to the health and safety authority ("Responsible department").
The responsible department will review your application and determine
- how long, at what time and on what day the child may be employed,
- the duration and location of rest breaks,
- the maximum duration of the daily stay at the place of employment. You will receive a written decision, only then may the child take part in the event or rehearsal
- Application: in good time before the rehearsal / event
- Participation of the child: from receipt of the exemption authorisation
