Application for special benefits for self-determined living for people with disabilities (integration assistance law) in accordance with Sections 90 ff. of the Ninth Book of the German Social Code (SGB IX)
Since 1 January 2020, people with disabilities or people at risk of disability have been entitled to benefits in accordance with the integration assistance law of the Ninth Book of the German Social Code (SGB IX). This does not apply to assistance for the blind. This is still part of social welfare law in accordance with SGB XII.
The benefits of integration assistance include
- Medical rehabilitation services (corresponding to the rehabilitation services provided by the statutory health insurance funds)
- Benefits for participation in working life
- for example, services in the work area of recognised workshops for disabled people, budget for work
- Benefits for participation in education
- for example, assistance with school education, in particular the provision of a school companion, assistance with school or university education or further training for a profession
- Benefits for social participation
- forexample, benefits for housing, assistance services, curative education services, mobility services
- Proof of income and assets,
- Documents relating to the existing disability, such as medical reports, documents relating to the benefit applied for
Details can be obtained from the office responsible for the application and from the advice centres.
- Those affected are entitled to integration assistance benefits if they are significantly restricted in their equal participation in society.
- Depending on the type of benefit and the level of income, a contribution must be made and assets used to finance the expenses.
You can apply for integration assistance by making an appointment with the responsible office, in writing by post or fax or informally by e-mail. Make use of the counselling services offered by the Kommunaler Sozialverband Sachsen (KSV) and the independent counselling centres (EUTB) in advance.
The application can be made by
- You personally,
- Your representative with a power of attorney
- Your legal representative.
Once the application has been submitted, the planned overall plan procedure is carried out. In particular, individual needs are also determined as part of the overall plan procedure.
Integration assistance services are generally provided by the administrative districts and independent cities. The Saxony Municipal Social Association provides the services
- in the area of social participation for people who have reached the age of 18 and
- who either live in a special form of accommodation or
- are cared for in a day care centre.
The Saxony Municipal Social Association is also responsible for
- Services for employment in a workshop for disabled people or with another service provider,
- Assistance with higher education and further vocational training,
- Benefits for the procurement and operation of a motor vehicle and
- all integration assistance benefits for Germans living abroad
