§57b Straßenverkehrs-Zulassungs-Ordnung (StVZO) - Prüfung der Fahrtenschreiber und Kontrollgeräte

In order to be able to carry out the testing of tachographs and recording equipment in your workshop, you must Apply for this recognition from your local motor vehicle trade guild.

Recognition can be

• for the performance of tachograph or speed limiter tests by the tachograph manufacturer in workshops maintained by them,
• for the performance of tachograph installation tests in accordance with Section 57b (4) by the applicant

may be issued.

• Certificate from the local Chamber of Crafts (informal or copy of the craft card)
  • of the company's entry in the register of craftsmen or, if it is a specialised company that is not entered in the register of craftsmen, an extract from the commercial register showing that a motor vehicle workshop is maintained
• Certificate from the local Chamber of Skilled Crafts,
  • that the applicant and/or the responsible skilled workers fulfil the requirements under the Crafts Code for the independent commercial performance of such work as is necessary to rectify the defects identified during the performance of tachograph and recording equipment tests
• Qualification certificates and a curriculum vitae in tabular form on the professional career
  • The qualification certificates (e.g. copy of the master craftsman's certificate) and a curriculum vitae in tabular form showing the professional background must be submitted as proof of the previous training of the specialists responsible for carrying out the tests on tachographs and recording equipment
• Certificate of successful completion of initial and, if applicable, refresher training
  • Copies of the certificate of successful completion of initial and, if applicable, recurrent training must be submitted for the applicant and/or the responsible skilled workers as proof of certification of training in accordance with point 2.5 of Annex XVIIId StVZO
• Certificate of good conduct for the applicant and the responsible person, not older than 6 months

• Extract from KBA for applicant and responsible persons, not older than 6 months

• completed application form

Note: Further documents may be included in the application form or will be requested on a case-by-case basis.

• Equipment and structural conditions in accordance with Annex XVIII b of the StVZO

Calculation according to expenditure

The application form and the required documents (see "Required documents") must be submitted with the application.
In the second step, the equipment and structural conditions in the workshop are checked on site in accordance with Annex XVIII b of the StVZO.

Recognition must be revoked if the requirements for recognition are no longer met.
It may also be revoked if

• the applicant has wilfully or through gross negligence violated the regulations for carrying out the tests,
• the tests were not carried out properly or
• the conditions associated with the recognition have not been complied with.
• it has not been utilised within six months.

Attention! Changes to recognised vehicle workshops that may affect their recognition must be reported to the recognition body without being requested to do so. Failure to do so may result in the revocation of recognition.
