With a mining permit, you are the only person allowed to explore for and mine certain mineral resources within a defined area.
Permits are issued for a limited period of time. You can have this permit extended if the permit period expires in the foreseeable future and the deposit is not yet exhausted. To do so, you have to submit an application to the competent mining authority and specify, among other things, a date when the deposit is expected to be exhausted.
Applications for the extension of a permit must meet the same requirements as applications for the granting of a permit. However, these applications are not as extensive as new applications, since, for example, the technical extractability and also the discovery point have already been proven in the new application. For extensions of a permit, the most important thing is to prove that the deposit has not yet been exhausted. As a rule, this is necessary:
- Extension application
- Production forecast with the expected annual production quantities in graphical and tabular form
- Work programme with the following tasks:
- Description of the planned technical implementation and extraction
- Period for which you are applying for an extension
- planned financial expenditure
- expected timetable for the extraction activities
- Details of the management as well as the company name and registered office
- Extract from the commercial register
You hold a mining permit valid at the time of application to explore for and extract a specific mineral resource in the permit field and to acquire ownership of it. Further requirements are:
- The mineral deposit is not yet exhausted.
- The extraction of the mineral resource must proceed in an orderly and planned manner.
- The timing of the extension must be appropriate to the mining project.
You can apply for the extension of your permit online via the "BergPass" platform or in writing to your competent mountain authority.
