If your address or personal data changes, you must notify us of the change.

Changes to registration data (e.g. marriage, birth of a child) must still be reported to the relevant municipality (registry office or registration authority). They will automatically send the changes to the Federal Central Tax Office (BZSt).

If these changes affect your electronic wage tax deduction details (ELStAM) (e.g. change of tax class or child allowance), they will be made available to your employer electronically for retrieval.

It may take several weeks for the changed ELStAM to be taken into account in your payroll. Your employer can then also apply the changes retrospectively and correct the payslips made in the meantime.

You can notify your tax office of changes to your address details via ELSTER.
