You can find out from your respective university whether an examination that has already been passed can be repeated to improve your grade or whether it is possible not to assess an examination that has not been passed (free attempt).
With regard to the possibility of repeating an examination once passed in order to improve grades and the possibility of not grading a failed examination (free attempt), the situation differs from university to university and in some cases also from degree program to degree program.
- Saarland University: The framework examination regulations of Saarland University regulate the conditions under which a free attempt or grade improvement is possible for suitable degree programs with regard to examinations taken and/or the final thesis.
- Saar University of Applied Sciences: The framework examination regulations of htw saar do not provide for the possibility of free attempts or grade improvement.
- Saar University of Music: The Saarland University of Music Act and the framework regulations for examinations at the Saar University of Music allow a free attempt at the final thesis of the respective degree program. A thesis that has been passed in a free attempt can be repeated once to improve the grade and the examination with the better result will be graded.
Hochschule der Bildenden Künste Saar: The Kunsthochschulgesetz (Art University Act) allows a free attempt at the final thesis of the respective degree program. A thesis that has been passed in a free attempt can be repeated once to improve the grade
