If you are studying and have a disability, impairment or chronic illness that has a negative impact on your studies, you can apply for measures to compensate for disadvantages.

Compensation for disadvantages is intended to compensate for existing disadvantages in studies due to chronic illness or a disability and thus ensure equal opportunities for all students. Students with a disability or chronic illness have a legal entitlement to a needs-based adjustment of study and examination conditions.

In particular for performance assessments to be completed during the course of study, such as

• written examinations,
• presentations,
• oral examinations,
• term papers,
• reports and
• final theses

compensation for disadvantages may be granted by the responsible examination board.

Compensation for disadvantages is agreed individually between you and the university. This requires a written application to the examination board responsible for your degree program.
