If your child was stillborn and it is a miscarriage, you can report the birth to the registry office in whose jurisdiction the miscarriage occurred. The registry office will issue a certificate on request.

The competent registry office will issue a certificate of notification of miscarriage on request.

A miscarriage is defined as a foetus that showed no signs of life (heartbeat, pulsating umbilical cord, pulmonary respiration) when it was separated from the womb, weighed less than 500 grams and did not reach 24 weeks of pregnancy.

The registry office can issue a certificate of notification of miscarriage to the notifier on request.

As a rule, there are no time limits worth mentioning, as this is a matter of the persons concerned coming to terms with their grief. As there is no notarization and the certificate has no legal effect, the deadlines for reporting a live birth, for example, do not apply here.
