The basis for the recognition procedures of qualifications, for the granting of further training authorizations and the approval of further training facilities are the Medical Profession Chamber Act (HBKG), the further training regulations of the Schleswig-Holstein Medical Association (WBO), the EU Directive 2005/36/EC and other guidelines of the Schleswig-Holstein Medical Association - in each case in the currently valid versions.
The Medical Training Department of the Schleswig-Holstein Medical Association processes all incoming applications and inquiries for the acquisition of specialist designations, for the acquisition of specialty designations in an area and for the acquisition of additional designations in accordance with the applicable training regulations as well as for the recognition of foreign qualifications and training periods completed abroad.
The prerequisite is membership in the Schleswig-Holstein chamber area or a proven legitimate interest in the case of non-members.
Complete application forms must be submitted, e.g.
"Application for recognition of a designation in accordance with further training regulations" "Request for evaluation of further training periods completed abroad" "Application for recognition of a professional qualification acquired abroad".
The respective form must be completed in full and signed. The supplementary sheet indicates which further documents are required for processing. Certified copies of further education certificates must be submitted. The original logbook for the area or additional further training must also be submitted. The documentation of the continuing education meetings that are to take place after each training period (but at least once a year) must be submitted.
The fees are based on the fee schedule of the Schleswig-Holstein Medical Association, which can be viewed at www.aeksh.de under the heading "Law / Legal basis"
If additional documents are requested, the case handlers will inform the applicant in writing of the deadline by which the documents are expected. If it is not possible to meet a deadline, the applicants will contact the office by telephone or post/email to extend the deadline. If documents are not submitted after several requests or if applicants do not respond, the application will initially be put on hold. If documents are submitted later, processing will be resumed.
Processing deadlines are set out in §§ 18 and 19 of the current further training regulations of the Schleswig-Holstein Medical Association for the recognition of foreign qualifications.
Signatures
Application forms and forms for inquiries must be signed. Further training certificates must be signed by the person authorized to provide further training. In the case of joint authorization of several doctors in a training center, the certificate must be signed by all authorized persons.
The logbook must be signed by the applicant on the last page. The person authorized to provide further training confirms with his or her signature on each page of the logbook that the standard figures entered and the contents signed off have been provided.
Authorized trainers
Up-to-date lists of all training supervisors in the area of responsibility of the Schleswig-Holstein Medical Association are available on the homepage of the Medical Association.
Those undergoing further training can make a personal appointment at the Medical Association's office during service hours or use the telephone consultation hours of the further training department to clarify questions and submit documents.
Please note: No conclusive statements will be made regarding the outcome of the document checks, either by telephone or in person. When submitted to the office, only an initial review of the documents and, if necessary, copies of submitted originals will be made, but no evaluation of the content.
The assessment of further training periods for non-members is subject to a fee and is not binding for other chamber areas in terms of content.
Fact sheets
The available information sheets are helpful, e.g. the
"Application information sheet" or the "Further training certificate information sheet".
With the help of these leaflets, doctors can check before submitting their documents whether all the required evidence is available and whether all further training content is detailed and signed off in certificates and logbooks.
Translations
Certificates and attestations from abroad must be submitted as certified copies with a translation by a German publicly appointed or sworn translator. It must be confirmed that the contents of the original and the translation match and that the original document was submitted for translation (database of sworn translators: www.bdue.de , recognized court interpreters: www.justiz-dolmetscher.de).
Statistics
In the case of recognition of further training certificates acquired abroad, the state medical associations record the personal data of the applicants and the final decisions statistically. The statistics are transmitted annually to the State Statistical Office in accordance with the applicable state regulations
(Section 17 of the Professional Qualifications Assessment Act (BQFG)).
The application / request must be sent by post to the Medical Association of Schleswig-Holstein, Department of Continuing Medical Education. Documents can also be submitted in person at the office in Bad Segeberg during service hours by prior appointment.
All application and request forms as well as the logbooks of the specialties, specializations and additional training courses are available on the homepage of the Schleswig-Holstein Medical Association under the heading "Further training".
