Do you receive housing benefit and your entitlement to housing benefit increases? Then you must submit an application for an increase.

You must inform the housing benefit authority immediately if, not only temporarily

• the total income of all household members is reduced by more than 15 percent,
• your rent or your housing costs excluding heating costs increase by more than 15 percent or
• the number of household members increases.

• Proof of the change in rent or charges
• Proof of the changed total income of all household members
• Proof of the change in the household members to be taken into account

• The total income of all household members has decreased by more than 15 percent or
• the number of household members has increased or
• Your rent or your housing costs excluding heating costs have increased by more than 15 percent.

There are no costs.

• You send your increase application in writing or online to the housing benefit office responsible for you.
• The authority will check and decide on your application for an increase.

You submit the application no later than the last day of the month from which you wish to apply for higher housing benefit.

You are obliged to provide all information truthfully. The housing benefit authority is entitled to check your details by comparing your data. The verification of your details is permitted up to 10 years after receipt of the housing benefit notice.

• Rent subsidy already granted or, in the case of property, the encumbrance allowance is increased if it is not only temporary:
  • the total income of all household members falls by more than 15 percent or
  • the number of household members increases or
  • the monthly rent or monthly charge increases by more than 15 percent
