Are you being looked after by the adoption agency and want to adopt a specific child from abroad? Then you may be asked to submit a "declaration of willingness". The declaration of willingness states that you wish to adopt the proposed child.
If you are in the adoption process and want to adopt a specific child from abroad, you must officially confirm this. This is called a declaration of readiness to adopt.
This declaration of readiness must be "publicly notarized". You can do this at a youth welfare office or at a notary's office.
The notarization does not cost any money at the youth welfare office. At a notary's office, the notarization costs money.
With this declaration of willingness, you undertake to bear the costs for the child. These may include the costs of accommodation, education and care in the event of illness or care. The adoption agency may collect the money from you. This applies for a maximum of 6 years from the time the child enters the country. The obligation ends with the adoption of the child.
Such costs can also arise while the child is already living in your household but you have not yet adopted it. In this case, you are not obliged to pay the costs in full. In this case, you only pay the cost contributions that parents would also have to pay.
The international placement agency must have asked you to make a declaration as part of the adoption procedure. If you wish to adopt the proposed child, you can make the declaration.
