The aim of landscape conservation is to preserve and develop the landscape with its diversity and character, its habitats and its habitats for animal and plant species.
The range of tasks includes, in particular, measures for the maintenance, restoration and creation of habitats and habitats for native animal and plant species in the cultural landscape. In Schleswig-Holstein, landscape conservation measures are preferably funded in NATURA 2000 areas through appropriately designed programs. The NATURA 2000 areas are protected areas under the Habitats Directive (Fauna-Flora-Habitat) and the Birds Directive of the European Union.
The state promotes landscape conservation. The implementation of the various measures is preferably carried out by the respective landowners and land users.
