Ausnahmen von der Schulpflicht beantragen

In Schleswig-Holstein, all children who turn six by June 30 of the current calendar year are required to attend school.

Compulsory schooling is divided into full-time compulsory schooling and compulsory vocational schooling. Compulsory schooling is fulfilled by establishing a school relationship with a public school or by attending an alternative school.
On the basis of the school relationship

• pupils are obliged to attend lessons, take examinations and attend other school events that have been declared compulsory,
• parents are obliged to ensure that pupils attend lessons and other school events, and
• instructors, employers and employers are obliged to ensure that students who are required to attend vocational school fulfill their obligation to attend vocational school.

Anyone who does not comply with this obligation is acting in breach of the regulations.
Truancy - or school absenteeism, also known colloquially as "truancy" - includes all forms of unauthorized absence from school.
As a measure to enforce school attendance, pupils who do not attend lessons without a legitimate reason can be sent to school in accordance with § 28 of the German Education Act. The general regulations on the enforcement of administrative acts remain unaffected. In addition, sanctions for non-compliance with compulsory school attendance are possible, for example the imposition of a fine in accordance with the Administrative Offenses Act.

• To the school. First of all, it is the school's task to react to pupils' behavior that is absent from school.
• To the school psychological service or the youth welfare office, with whom the schools work together in dealing with truant behavior.
• To the districts or independent cities (public order office), which are responsible for conducting proceedings in accordance with the law on administrative offenses.
