Aufnahme als europäische Rechtsanwältin oder europäischer Rechtsanwalt in eine Rechtsanwaltskammer beantragen

Upon application, European lawyers can be admitted to the bar under certain conditions.

Any person who provides evidence of at least three years of effective and regular practice as an established European lawyer in Germany in the field of German law, including Community law, in accordance with Section 12 of the Act on the Activities of European Lawyers in Germany (EuRAG), shall be admitted to the bar in accordance with the provisions of Sections 6 to 36 of the Federal Lawyers' Act (Bundesrechtsanwaltsordnung).

Effective and regular activity is the actual practice of the profession without interruption; interruptions due to events in daily life shall not be taken into account.

The applicant must provide evidence of the number and type of cases he/she has dealt with in German law by means of case lists and the duration of his/her activity. If necessary, anonymized work samples shall be submitted to the competent body upon request. He/she shall provide the competent body with all information and documents that are suitable for providing evidence. The competent body may ask the applicant to explain his/her statements and documents orally or in writing

According to the scale of fees of the Schleswig-Holstein Bar Association, a fee of EUR 255.00 is charged.

Anyone who has effectively and regularly practiced as an established European lawyer in Germany for at least three years, but has only practiced German law for a shorter period of time, may be admitted to the bar in accordance with the provisions of Sections 6 to 36 of the Federal Lawyers' Act if he/she can prove his/her ability to continue practicing in accordance with Sections 14 and 15 EuRAG.

In making its decision, the competent authority shall take into account the nature and scope of the professional activity and all knowledge and professional experience in German law, as well as participation in courses and seminars on German law, including the professional law of lawyers.
