A corpse passport can be requested for the transfer of a body to a location outside Schleswig-Holstein.

A corpse passport is only required within Germany if the destination federal state or a federal state touched on the journey requires one. When transporting bodies from other states of the Federal Republic of Germany to or through Schleswig-Holstein, a death certificate or a death certificate is sufficient.

A corpse passport is required for the transportation of a corpse abroad.

The prerequisite for the issue of a corpse passport is that the death has been certified by the registry office and the possibility of burial at the place of destination is proven.

The corpse passport is issued in several languages.

• Death certificate or death certificate,
• Certificate of proper burial by the funeral home,
• as long as the death certificate does not bear the notation of the registry office: authorization from the municipal administration in whose district the death occurred,
• if there are indications of a non-natural death or in the case of the body of an unknown person: authorization from the public prosecutor's office or the local court.
