Every citizen who is entitled to vote can register as a poll worker.

Polling assistants are citizens who are entitled to vote and who lead the election process on election day in the electoral boards as election supervisors and assessors and determine the provisional election result in the electoral district.

Serving on an electoral board appointed by the municipality, the office or the city administration is an honorary position. Every citizen is obliged to accept this position, which can only be refused for important reasons.

Poll workers must be eligible to vote in the relevant election.

You can volunteer as a poll worker at your local electoral authority in the local authority district or independent municipality.

Please contact your municipality, office or city administration to apply as an election assistant. Applications can be submitted in good time before the day of the election or the vote or after a corresponding call in the press.

The members of the election committees receive an expense allowance for their work on election day.
