Recognition of a specialty or additional designation must be applied for at the State Chamber of Veterinary Surgeons after completion of the prescribed further training. The application for recognition must be accompanied by all certificates issued during the further training and the evidence required for the respective further training course. The State Chamber of Veterinary Surgeons will check the application and the supporting documents for completeness and inform the applicant of the result. Within a reasonable period of time, the Chamber will decide whether the certificates and evidence submitted with the application meet the requirements of the further training regulations and the content and scope of further training in the area or field chosen by the applicant as specified in the respective further training course. If this is the case, the applicant will be admitted to the oral examination before the Chamber's Examination Board.
On the basis of the applicant's presentation in the oral examination, the examination board decides whether the applicant has acquired the required special and additional knowledge in the field or area chosen by him/her.
The Chairman of the Examination Board shall inform the State Veterinary Chamber of the result of the examination in writing, enclosing the results report. If the examination is passed, the State Chamber of Veterinary Surgeons will issue the applicant with a certificate confirming the right to use the title.

Anyone who has completed further training in a course of further training that deviates from the further training regulations will receive recognition on application if the further training and the knowledge acquired are equivalent.
Further training that is not equivalent can be completed with full or partial crediting of the previously completed further training periods in accordance with the provisions of the further training regulations. The State Chamber of Veterinary Surgeons decides on the recognition.

• Informal application for recognition of a specialist veterinarian or additional designation
• Certificates that prove the proper completion of all further training contents specified in the corresponding further training course to the extent specified in the respective further training course

The prerequisite for the recognition of a specialist veterinarian or additional designation is the proper completion of further training and the subsequent successful completion of an oral examination or the determination of the equivalence of further training that deviates from the further training regulations.

The State Chamber of Veterinary Surgeons charges fees and expenses (costs) to applicants for these administrative activities.

• EUR 50.00 for processing an application for admission to an examination in an area, sub-area or additional designation
• EUR 260.00 for participation in an examination in an area, sub-area or for an additional designation
• Recognition of the area designation "public veterinary services" etc. EUR 50.00
• Special expenses according to § 2 of the fee regulations of the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern State Chamber of Veterinarians

• Application for recognition of a specialty or additional designation or application for admission to the examination
• Examination of the completeness of the documents by the Chamber office and notification of the corresponding result to the applicant
• Once the complete documents have been submitted, the application and the complete documents are forwarded by the chamber office to the further training committee
• The further training committee will check whether the certificates and evidence submitted with the application meet the requirements of the further training regulations and the content and scope of further training in the area or field chosen by the applicant as specified in the respective further training course.
• If this is the case, the applicant will be admitted to the oral examination before the examination board of the chamber and the examination board will set the examination date.
• The Chairman of the Examination Board will inform the applicant and the Chamber of the result of the examination.
• If the examination is passed or if the equivalence of a course of further training that deviates from the further training regulations is established, the State Chamber of Veterinary Surgeons will issue the applicant with a certificate of the right to use the title.

Depending on the availability of the complete documentation, the duration of the examination of the documents by the further training committee and the determination of the examination date, approx. 3 - 6 months.

• Application for admission to the examination: no later than 12 months after completion of the respective further training course
• Examination of the completeness of the application and the evidence: 1 month
• Examination as to whether the certificates and evidence submitted meet the requirements of the further training regulations and the content and scope of the further training in the area or field chosen by the applicant as specified in the respective further training course = reasonable time

• Specialist veterinary and additional designations may only be used if they have been recognized by the State Chamber of Veterinary Surgeons.
• A specialist or additional designation is granted by the State Chamber of Veterinary Surgeons if the prescribed further training has been successfully completed and this has been proven by appropriate documentation.
