The disposal of packaging is the responsibility of the dual systems. You can hand in lightweight packaging (yellow bag) for disposal at the respective collection points at recycling centers, provided this is offered.
The dual systems are responsible for the disposal of packaging as defined by the Packaging Act. So-called lightweight packaging is collected in the Yellow Bag. This is sales packaging made of plastic, metal, composite materials and natural materials.
What belongs in the yellow bag? Lightweight packaging made of plastic, metal, composites or natural materials such as:
- Plastic cups, sausage and cheese packaging, ice cream packaging, tins, drinks cartons, plastic bags, plastic cosmetics packaging, polystyrene packaging.
The packaging should be emptied but not rinsed.
What does not belong in the yellow bag?
- Glass and paper/cardboard/cardboard packaging that is collected separately as such and sent for recycling.
- "non-packaging of the same material" such as broken cleaning buckets, frying pans, plastic toys or metal screws
- CDs, DVDs and their cases (special boxes are usually provided for this purpose, in which they are collected)
There may be further regional differences in the materials permitted.
Product responsibility applies to packaging. The disposal of packaging in accordance with the Packaging Act is already paid for by the consumer when purchasing the product. You can find out more from your public waste disposal authority and dual system.
