Under EU law, certain activities of the feed company require approval by the competent feed monitoring authority.
Under EU law, feed business operators shall ensure that all establishments under their control (each installation of a feed business) are approved by the competent authority.
Under federal law, feed business operators ensure that they are approved for certain activities by the competent authority.
The application for approval must be made in writing or electronically to the competent authority.
The information in the application form and, depending on the activity applied for, certain supporting documents may be required for admission.
The prerequisite for approval is information on the company and the activity in the application form.
You must provide the necessary evidence.
You must comply with the relevant regulations.
You pay the fees for the license.
You apply for approval in writing by post or electronically by e-mail to the competent feed monitoring authority.
The competent feed monitoring authority will check your application.
The competent feed monitoring authority will carry out an on-site inspection.
If your company meets all the requirements, the competent authority will issue an approval notice and a fee notice.

- Approval in accordance with Article 10 of the Feed Hygiene Regulation is required for
- Production of compound feed for placing on the market or exclusively for the needs of the farm using feed additives or premixtures containing feed additives listed in Annex IV Chapter 3 of Regulation (EC) No 183/2005,
- Production and/or placing on the market of premixtures produced using feed additives listed in Annex IV Chapter 2 of Regulation (EC) No 183/2005,
- Production or placing on the market of feed additives which fall under Regulation (EC) No. 1831/2003 and are listed in Annex IV Chapter 1,
- Authorization according to Regulation (EC) No 141/2007 (OJ L No 43 p. 9), for the production or placing on the market of feed additives belonging to the category "coccidiostats and histomonostats"
- Authorization according to Art. 8 para. 2 of Regulation (EC) No. 767/2009 (OJ L No. 229 p. 1), for the production of "high concentrates" (dietary supplements with a higher content of feed additives than 100 times the fixed maximum content in complete feedingstuffs) containing additives according to Annex IV Chapter II of Regulation (EC) No. 183/2005 (= vitamin A or D, copper or selenium, coccidiostats/histomonostats).
- Authorization for one or more of the activities listed below:
- the processing of crude vegetable oils (establishments covered by Regulation EC No 852/2004 are excluded);
- the production of oleochemical fatty acids;
- the production of biodiesel and the marketing of by-products as animal feed;
- the mixing of fats.
- Authorization for the decontamination of feed according to Regulation (EC) No. 786/2015 Article 6 paragraph 1 in conjunction with. Article 10(3) of Regulation (EC) No 183/2005.
- Authorization as feed business operator manufacturing, storing, transporting or placing on the market medicated feed or intermediate products (Article 13 Regulation (EU) 2019/4)
- Approval for the drying of green fodder, foodstuffs or food residues under the direct influence of combustion gases for the production of feed (in accordance with the Feedstuffs Ordinance § 17 para. 2 in conjunction with § 18 para. 2);
- Approval of companies that place fats, oils, fatty acids, fatty acids esterified with glycerol, mono- and diglycerides of fatty acids or salts of fatty acids produced from fats of vegetable or animal origin, oils of vegetable or animal origin or fatty acids of vegetable or animal origin, which they have not produced themselves, on the market in bulk as feed materials (in accordance with the Feedstuffs Ordinance § 17 para. 3 in conjunction with § 18 para. 3);
- Authorization as a third country representative (according to the Feedstuffs Ordinance § 17 paragraph 4 in conjunction with § 18 paragraph 4)
