If you want to set up and operate a plant that could damage the environment or endanger the general public, you need a permit under immission control law.
Due to their nature or operation, installations can cause harmful environmental effects or otherwise endanger, significantly disadvantage or significantly inconvenience the general public or the neighborhood.
If you want to set up and operate such a facility, you need a permit from the competent authority.
Stationary waste disposal facilities for the storage or treatment of waste are also subject to approval.

- Unavoidable harmful environmental effects of the plant must be kept to a minimum in accordance with the state of the art.
- The waste generated during the operation of the plant must be disposed of properly.
- Energy must be used sparingly and efficiently.
- Other public law regulations and occupational health and safety concerns must not conflict with the project.
Fees are charged for the official act. The amount is primarily based on the installation costs of the facility or the administrative costs. Further details are regulated by the Immission Control Costs Ordinance M-V.
You must apply to the competent authority for approval of the system prior to construction and operation.
Notification is only required if the change may have an impact on the protected goods listed in Section 1 of the Federal Immission Control Act.
