If you live in a registered civil partnership, you can determine a common name (civil partnership name).
There are many options when determining the name in a registered civil partnership. You can determine the birth name or the name actually used by your partner as the common name of the civil partnership. The name from a previous civil partnership or marriage, including any accompanying name, can also be considered as the name actually used.
In some cases, special features must also be taken into account, e.g. if a civil partner has a foreign nationality.
Once you have chosen a common name for a civil partnership, you may not change it during the partnership.
The civil partner whose name does not become the civil partner's name may prefix or append his or her maiden name or the name actually used to the civil partner's name by declaration (companion name); the declaration on the companion name may be revoked at any time.
