You have already studied medicine abroad for a few semesters and would now like to change universities? Find out more here.

If you have already started studying medicine abroad and now wish to continue at a German university, you can have the periods of study and academic achievements credited.

If you have started a related course of study in Germany or abroad, you can also have this credited. In this case, it will be checked in advance whether your studies are comparable to medical studies.

You can only have a complete performance record recognized. Partial credits will not be recognized.

If you have studied medicine in Germany, this does not have to be credited.

Study at home:

• Application
• Proof of university entrance qualification / Abitur certificate
• all matriculation certificates or course of study certificates of your previous studies
• matriculation certificate or letter of admission for the course of study Medicine
• or - if you do not have this - a simple copy of your birth certificate
• Certificates of achievement (Scheine) from your previous studies (original)
• If applicable, a certificate of equivalence (a certificate stating that your studies are comparable to a medical degree program)

Study abroad:

• Application
• Proof of university entrance qualification /Abitur certificate
• all matriculation certificates or course of studies certificate
• a simple copy of the birth certificate
• overview of subjects and grades / transcript of records (original from the university)
• certificate (original if the study program has already been completed)

• Your studies are comparable to medical studies

For the recognition of the 2nd section of studies, the following prerequisite also applies:

• You have passed the 1st section of the medical examination

The fee depends on the number of services to be credited.

In addition, you must pay the postage costs.

There are no deadlines to be observed.

In the case of foreign language documents, you must have them translated and certified by a sworn interpreter.

• Crediting and recognition of study periods and study achievements in medical studies is possible if:
  • a medical study was started abroad
  • or a related study program was started in Germany / abroad.
• Recognition is only possible for entire credit, NOT for partial credit.
• Prerequisites:
  • Study is comparable to a medical study
  • For the recognition of the 2nd section of studies, the prerequisite also applies: 1st section of the medical examination has been passed.
