You will be informed as soon as your requested ID card is ready for collection from the ID card office.

The ID card authority will inform you as soon as the ID card can be collected.

Some municipalities provide an online service for checking the status of ID cards (see "Online procedure" if applicable). Here you can find out online whether the ID card you have applied for is ready or about the current processing status.

Note: After you have to declare receipt of the PIN letter during collection, you should first wait until you receive the PIN letter.

After applying for an ID card, Bundesdruckerei GmbH is commissioned by the ID card authority to issue the ID card.

The applicant will be informed as soon as the ID card is ready for collection from the ID card authority.

According to the Federal Ministry of the Interior, Building and Community, it usually takes at least two weeks from the date of application before you can collect your ID card from the Citizens' Registration Office. In some cases, however, it can take several weeks. Please contact your local ID card office for information on the current average production time.
