If you have a justified interest, you can obtain access to the archive records of the various archives in Thuringia.
In Thuringia, you have the opportunity to consult the archives for scientific purposes, for local history questions, to research your own family history or to clarify legal issues in the relevant archive.
In Thuringia, there is the Thuringian State Archive with its six departments (Altenburg State Archive, Gotha State Archive, Greiz State Archive, Meiningen State Archive, Rudolstadt State Archive and the Weimar Main State Archive).
You can also access district, municipal, city, administrative community, economic, church, parliamentary and media archives as well as the archives of scientific institutions.
The use of archive material from public archives is generally open to anyone within the framework of the respective user regulations and other legal provisions.
