Here you will find information about the comprehensive school.

There are comprehensive schools in Erfurt, Gera, Gotha and Jena. Comprehensive schools start at grade 5 and lead to the Hauptschulabschluss, the Realschulabschluss or, in conjunction with an upper secondary school, the Abitur. It can be run on a cooperative or integrated basis. In the cooperative comprehensive school, classes are formed depending on the desired qualification: Hauptschule, Realschule and Abitur. In the integrated comprehensive school, corresponding courses are formed depending on the desired qualification. The upper grammar school level here comprises grades 11 to 13.
