You must report the operation of a restaurant to the competent authority.

If you want to run a restaurant, you need a business registration. As the restaurant trade is considered a trade requiring special supervision, further documents must be submitted to assess reliability (in accordance with § 2 ThürGastG).

• Certificate of good conduct for submission to authorities (apply to the municipality of residence)
• Information from the central trade register (apply to the municipality of residence or company headquarters)
• At the request of the competent authority: tax clearance certificate from the tax office
• for legal entities: Extract from the commercial or association register

In addition to the fees for business registration, fees must be paid for extracts from the Federal Central Register and the Central Trade Register.

Anyone wishing to operate a catering business must notify the competent authority at least two weeks before opening the establishment. In addition, the type of food and drink planned must be notified to the authority two weeks in advance.
