Do you want to start working as a young person? Then you must have a medical examination before starting work, for which you need a medical examination certificate.
If you are under the age of 18 and wish to take up gainful employment (training or employment), you must first undergo a medical examination (initial examination). One year after taking up your first job, you must have another medical examination (follow-up examination). At the end of each additional year after the first follow-up examination, you can have another examination if you are under 18 years of age. Employers are not allowed to employ young people without these examinations. The examinations determine whether you are physically and developmentally suitable for this occupation. This is to prevent you from suffering health problems as a result of your work.
The following are required for this examination
- an examination authorization form with ID: This serves as a billing document and must be handed in to the examining doctor.
- a questionnaire: This must be completed in full and submitted to the examining doctor.
You do not need an examination if you are starting marginal employment or are only working for a short time (maximum 2 months). This applies, for example, to a vacation job or a student internship.
You will receive a certificate after the examination. You must present this to your employer.
No examination is required if you change employer. Your previous employer must provide you with the certificate after you have finished your employment. You can present this to your new employer.
