§ 19 (6) BetrSichV

For certain systems requiring monitoring, you can apply for a shortening of the inspection period in individual cases.

You can apply for the shortening of inspection periods for installations requiring monitoring for the following installations:

• Elevator systems
• Installations in potentially explosive atmospheres
• Pressure systems
• Cranes
• Liquefied petroleum gas systems
• Mechanical tools for event technology

• Steam boiler plants

• Information on the system, the place of use and operating times (design, type of production, quality, operational influences)
• Result of the risk assessment for the plant
• Test certificates for the most recent tests carried out
• Information on the measures to be taken to ensure safety
• Expert opinion on the equivalence of the measures

• Information on maintenance by a specialist fitter or company

They shall establish an equivalent level of security by means of technical and/or organisational measures.

You can request the shortening of the review period in writing to the competent authority.

• Submit the application and the required documents.
• The authority will examine your application and the documents submitted.
• You will receive a notice of shortening the review period or a rejection of the shortening of the review period.

As a rule, at the earliest after the first periodic inspection. If sufficient knowledge is available about the operational influences on the service life, the shortening of the test period can also be approved before the first periodic inspection.

Contradiction:

• You may appeal against the decision within one month of notification.
• You must submit the objection to the competent authority in writing or for a record.

• In Rhineland-Palatinate, objections can also be filed in electronic form.

• Shortening of the inspection period of a plant requiring monitoring in accordance with the Ordinance on Industrial Safety and Health Approval
• Installations in need of monitoring are subject to fixed inspection periods
• The competent authority may, in individual cases, shorten inspection periods for certain installations requiring monitoring
• Responsible: Occupational health and safety authority or trade supervisory authority
